Frequently Asked Questions
How often should I have my HVAC system inspected?
We recommend having a maintenance inspection done on your system twice a year, to keep it running efficiently and to catch any potential issues early. The fall inspection mainly focuses on the heating system and spring inspection focuses on the A/C. Our inspection fee is $85 for a single HVAC system or $75 each for multiple systems at the same address.
What should a system maintenance inspection include?
For the spring inspection of the A/C it should include a simple outdoor coil garden hose rinse, general inspection of the electrical wiring / devices, testing of the actual capacity of the compressor & outdoor fan run capacitors and vacuuming the condensate drain line if it's accessible. Fall heating inspection should include general inspection of wiring & controls, clearing of cob webs from gas burners or for electric heat testing the aux heat strips and observing the heat pump operation.
Do you send different technicians to my home each time?
No, we pride ourselves on providing consistent service, often sending the same trusted technician to your home.
What areas do you serve?
We serve the greater Nashville Tennessee area.
How much is the service fee?
Our service fee is currently $85. This covers the time to travel to your location and time to diagnose. Most repairs can be flat rate quoted so hopefully there are no financial surprises if you decide to go forward with repairs. If you decide against having us do the repairs, all you owe is the $85 service fee.
How can I pay you for your services?
The preferred method is by check or cash but I also happily accept most major credit cards / debit cards and Venmo via the PayPal point-of-sale app on my smartphone (very secure, tap-to-pay or QR code scan in the case of Venmo). I can even invoice you via email. Either a PDF invoice that you can mail in a check for or a PayPal invoice which you can pay online via most major credit / debit cards, Venmo or PayPal. No PayPal account needed, unless you're wanting to pay via your own PayPal account. There is an additional %3 charge on any invoice $200 or more to cover processing fee for all electronic payment methods, including Venmo.
What about sales tax?
Tennessee is one of the unique states in that there is no sales tax on work on real property. So no, no sales tax on the labor. I do pay normal sales tax for all material used but I include that in the final price to you. The good news is that if I give you a flat rate quote of, let's say, $540 for a certain repair, there is no extra sales tax jacking the final cost to you up to almost $600.
Do you offer duct cleaning services?
No, we specialize only in central HVAC maintenance and repair and do not offer duct cleaning services. Duct cleaning is nowhere near as needed as most duct cleaning companies would have you believe but if your situation is one of the ones that would benefit from a duct cleaning then I personally recommend going with a company that specializes in duct cleaning, rather than an HVAC company that has added it as an extra revenue up-sell. In the Nashville area there are a few, such as Mr B's Duct Cleaning. Just "google" it. A good company will be able to show you video / pics of your dirty ducts then, if needed, the after vids / pics of them cleaned. BTW, most of us have dust / dirt buildup in some parts of our ducts. It's normal. It becomes a problem in certain situations such as when a system has been ran for extended periods without an air filter or animals have damaged the ducting or some other rare circumstance.
